Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Again, another year flew by us. I hope everyone can look back and say "I have done good". Everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays. Please be mindful of what you are making and eating. If you are a cook of the family and friends, you are affecting your loved ones health. Once, I indulged the love of the traditions of the holidays. Now, I believe that these holiday traditions are a "culture of death". For the sake of holiday, we consume so much fat, sugar ridden foods. I feel that creating new healthy "traditions" for your family and friends for the holidays would be an excellent idea to welcome a healthy body, mind, and spirit. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

Living Food Class Level 1 Part 1

I hope Karen, Jackie, and Jim had a great time preparing and sharing information. We shared so much information about eating healthy, GMO food, and earthing. Six hour went by very quickly. I know it was too much to digest in one day class. Usually, this class is divided into 2 day consecutive course, 3 hour each. If you are interested in this class, please call 330 727 7251.

Jim and Jackie are making Nacho Cheeze with cashew.

Karen and Jim are measuring the spices.

Fully Automatic Ionic Colloidal Silver Generator: Collgen2

I had an opportunity to discuss about how to boosting immune system with Russ Bianchi in person, the formulator of Zija's Moringa Oleifera and an expert in nutritional availability and a highly respected formulator for many nutritional products. He talked about ionic colloidal silver produced by CollGen2, a fully automatic generator that was invented by Fred Peschel, a scientist, researcher and inventor.

Of course, I had to try out and share this information with my friends and my living food clients. First, what is ionic colloidal silver?
"IonicColloidal Silver is a solution of extremely fine sub microscopic particles (.015 - .005 microns) of pure silver suspended in water by a positive electric charge on each particle. The particles remain suspended throughout the solution because these positive charged particles repel each other with a greater force than gravity can exert. A powerful germicidal, ionic colloidal silver is an exceptional metal in that it is non-toxic to the human body, but lethal to over 650 disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and molds; while conventional pharmaceutical antibiotics are typically effective against only 6 or 7 types of bacteria. Some new strains of bacteria classified as MDR (Multiple Drug Resistant) have proven to be resistant to all pharmaceutical antibiotics, but not to colloidal silver due to different germicidal mechanisms of deactivation.
 http://www.collgen2.org/?section=8

As a friendly advise, Russ Bianchi recommended this machine and mixing one pack of smartmix of moringa oleifera in 16 oz of ionic colloidal silver and drink it 4 oz 15 minutes before each meal and before a bedtime each day. My daughter is enjoying this drink in the morning before she goes to school and noticed how Zija drinks help her to stay fuller in the morning.

Don't worry. No one is blue. According to the seller, this ionic colloidal silver do not turn your skin blue.  It uses a very specific distilled water from Walmart brand with a fuchsia lid and CVS pharmacy store distilled water. The machine is so easy to use and it is automated. As far as the medicinal use, I don't have the data from my family yet.

If you want to know more about the this machine go to http://www.collgen2.com/

My Review Of "Earthing" Sheet

I love my recovery "Earthing" bag. Every night when I lay down to go to sleep or read a book, it has been a calming and relaxing experience. The first few nights, I felt a pleasant tingling sensation going up and down my body. When I woke up in the morning, I felt refreshed and rested.

My friend bought a bed sheet and was able to get rid of most of her allergy health challenges and decrease the pain from a previous injury. At first, she felt jittery for a few hours and could not fall asleep. When she was ready to give it up, she started to notice how her body started to feel calm and relaxed. Her body was re-synchronized and balanced with the earth. Now, she does not sleep without it.

My daughter has  been using just the one band around her ankle through the night and was able to eliminate menstral cramps.

My son uses a bed sheet and he noticed that he felt a sleep faster when he was grounded.

An 11 year old girl who recently had a serious surgery and broken her wrist while she was riding a four-wheeler. Within a 3 month time frame, she started to use the recovery bag. The first time she got into the bag, she felt a tingling sensation around her surgery site and her broken wrist. She felt relaxed and calm within 5 minutes into grounding. As young as she is, she feels the difference when she grounds and when she doesn't. The earthing sheet reduces inflammation of her trauma area; therefore, she is able to heal and rest.

A 13 year boy who was always on the go and very active started grounding and noticed that he felt tired or sleepy feeling. At first, he did not like "tired" feeling. His mom encouraged him to not to give up using the sheet. Now, he loves the feeling relaxed and calm.

These are just a few examples of what grounding can do for you. The benefits for healthy or health challenged individual are

Raw Tangy & Sweet Green Tomato Relish

What do you do when the tomato season is over and still have plenty of green tomatoes? I made this sweet and tangy raw green tomato relish. This recipes will make about 12 pints.

*Raw Tangy & Sweet Green Tomato Relish*
15 to 17 green tomatoes (1 peck)
2 onions, chopped
3 red peppers, chopped
1/3 to 1/2 cup salt
1/3 to 1/2 cup palm sugar (not raw, but low in glycemic index of 35)
1 qt. apple cider vinegar or Bragg's apple cider vinegar
1/2 qt. purified water
*For spicy flavor, add 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped

Directions:
Mix them well and let it sit overnight. Follow cold canning instruction. Refrigerate.
*If you are using Bragg's apple cider vinegar, please boil the apple cider with the sugar and salt. I called Bragg's company and they told me to boil the vinegar. If you don't, the pressure from the fermentation will cause problem in canning.  If you wish to use without boiling it, make sure it is refrigerate right after it is made and make in less quantity. Enjoy!

Superfoods #4: Cacao

Magical! Sinful! So tempting.....Desire to satisfy your sweet taste buds... You are walking down the grocery store candy section and searching for that candy you have been craving. You just finished off "Supersized" candy bar or bag, and you feel guilty now. No more guilty!!! Next time eat raw cacao... Have you ever smelled the real cacao? Just smelling cacao indulges your desire....

I really am not a sweet tooth person, but I do love chocolate syrup made with cacao. Cacao, "The food of the gods", is not the same as the processed cocoa powder. In ancient Mexico, the cacao beans were used as currency. The Aztecs called cacao, yollotl eztli,  means " heart blood". The raw cacao bean is considered a superfood because of its nutritional content, but the processed chocolate products we see in the stores are so processed and refined that it has lost the most of the valuable nutrients.

The cacao has:
*antioxidants properties
*magnesium
*iron
*chromium
*manganese
*zinc
*copper
*vitamin C
*omega 6
*phenylethylamine (PEA)-increases focus and alertness
*anandamide-known as "bliss chemical", endorphin
*tryptophan
*serotonin
*fiber
*methylxanthines: caffeine and theobromine

Many of these nutritional components get destroyed when the heat is applied. If you desire to satisfy your sweet cravings, go for the raw cacao and enjoy with all the benefits.

Move Over Cow Milk.... Hemp Seed Milk Is GOOD!!!!

I love drinking smoothie. In the past, I only made almond milk. Recently, I felt in love with hempseed. Hempseed has rich in amino acids including essential amino acids, balanced omega 3 and 6, chlorophyll, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, sodium, silicon, copper, iodine, chromium, and other traces of minerals.
This is how I make hempseed milk.

Uhhulled hempseed needs to be soaked to remove enzyme inhibitors, but I use hulled hempseed.

Hempseed Milk
Equipment needed: blender
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shelled hempseed
1 Tbs. vanilla extract or a half of vanilla bean
1/4 tsp. salt
6 to 8 cup purified water

Blend them and drink. I mix the pulp into my smoothie as well. For sweeter taste, add soaked 4 dates.

Moringa Oleifera: "Miracle Tree"

Recently, I learned about Moringa Oleifera, Miracle Tree written by Dr. Monica Marcu, Pharm D., and Ph. D.
http://www.miracletrees.org/moringa_act_now.html

Please visit this website to watch a short 10 minute video clip by Discovery channel on Miracle tree, Moringa. http://www.teamzija.co/Welcome.html

Moringa oleifera is a horseradish plant. It is a fast growing and can grow over 3meters in first year. Also, it can grow in harsh conditions and is drought tolerant. Therefore, growing Moringa has been implemented in countries with malnourishment and have inability to grow any other crops.

According to John Hopkins School of Medicine study by Jed W. Fahey, Sc.D., "A large number of reports on the nutritional qualities of Moringa now exist in both the scientific and the popular literature. Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrition, especially among infants and nursing mothers.
http://moringamalunggay.com/John_Hopkins.pdf

Moringa has over 90 nutritional compounds.
*46 antioxidants
*36 anti-inflammatory properties
*all essential amino acids
*attends, chlorophyll, flavonoids, lutein, omegas, polyphenols, plant sterols, rutin, xanthins, and many more
*4x the calcium of milk
*4x the vitamin A of carrots
*2x the protein of yogurt
*3x the potassium of banana
*7x the vitamin C of oranges

Moringa's benefits are:
*support immune system
*promote circulation and digestion
*supports normal blood glucose levels
*anti-aging effect
*mental clarity and increased energy level

According to the study by ChinmoyK. Bose, MD, PhD, "The effectiveness of the moringa plant in treating ovarian cancer became evident after the publication of recent studies demonstrating that benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC) and phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) induce apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells in vitro.[6,7] We knew that isothiocyanates have antitumor activity in cancers of the lung, breast, skin, esophagus, and pancreas, but we did not know that it can also induce apoptosis in ovarian cancer cell in vitro". Earthlings, Please Come Earthing With Me!!!

I came upon this wonderful information about "grounding" or "earthing" about 2 months ago and have used the products and I am so excited to share with you.

You will be able to get more detailed information about it through reading Earthing written by Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra, M.D., and Martin Zucker. Dr. Sinatra is a board-certified cardiologist and certified psychotherapist with more than 30 years of preventing and reversing heart disease and wrote many books. Clinton Ober calls himself a "cable guy". He is the one who discovered Earthing and has been exploring practical applications of the earthing concept.

For a short version of the concept of earthing is about reconnecting to the earth. "Earth's electrical surface is always negative, meaning that the surface is filled with free electrons. They are able to move and reduce a positive charge (Earthing, Ober, Sinatra, and Zucker). Why is that important information? "They are (free radicals) are positive-charged molecules (short of one or more electrons) that search for free electrons to become stable. You can call them electrophiles-electron lovers. Normally, these free radicals obtain their missing electrons by stripping electrons away from pathogens and damaged tissue. This activity kills the bad bugs you want out of your body and break down damaged cells from removal. As the remedial work winds down, excess free radicals produced during the immune response are neutralized by antioxidants or free electrons in the body." (Earthing, Ober, Sinatra, and Zucker). So what happens when your body have too much free radicals? "Free radicals obviously a starring roles in the immune response, but problems arise when the process fails to wind down completely after the job is done. The good guys become bad guys on a rampage, ripping up innocent, healthy cells." "People are suffering from an electron deficiency -not enough free electrons on hand to satisfy the lust of rampaging free radicals"(Earthing, Ober, Sinatra, and Zucker).

Earthing company performed many scientific studies with earthing or grounding. People with MS, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune disease, inflammatory related illnesses, autism, aches, pains, swelling, and other health related issues have improved their health conditions and increased their quality of life tremendously. Also, healthy individuals and athletes also found earthing to be important part of their life, training and performance.

If you are interested in purchasing the products, please go to http://96.earthing.com/

Earthing class is on Sept. 23, Friday, from 7pm to 8pm at my house. If you would like to find out a simple way to receive free electron from the earth, please call 330 727 7251.

Danger In Your Grocery Cart #5: High Fructose Corn Syrup

Exam your food and read all of the ingredients in your refined, processed food including the meat you consume. You will notice one repeating ingredient, CORN. Corn is everywhere. Corn is not vegetable, but it is grain and over 90% of corn is GMO.

According the Princeton University study, "the first long-term study of the effects of high-fructose corn syrup consumption on obesity in lab animal -- monitored weight gain, body fat and triglyceride levels in rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup over a period of six months. Compared to animals eating only rat chow, rats on a diet rich in high-fructose corn syrup showed characteristic signs of a dangerous condition known in humans as the metabolic syndrome, including abnormal weight gain, significant increases in circulating triglycerides and augmented fat deposition, especially visceral fat around the belly. Male rats in particular ballooned in size: Animals with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained 48 percent more weight than those eating a normal diet." http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S26/91/22K07/

"Fructose is metabolized differently from glucose; the body doesn't respond to it by producing insulin to convey it into cells to be used as energy. Rather, it is metabolized in the liver, which turns it first into glucose and then, if there is no call for glucose, into triglycerides-fat" (In Defense Of Food, Michael Pollan).

Cows' natural diet is grass, but they are fed corn. Therefore, you are eating corn second hand. Most likely, you are consuming GMO corn.

Beware of the hidden ingredients. Educate yourself for better health.

Superfoods#3: Maca

My daughter is in love with Andes Aphrodisiac, Maca. This root has been grown in Peruvian Andes of South America for 2,600 years. Maca is an adaptogen, "it has the ability to balance and stabilize the body's glandular-hormonal system, nervous system, cardiovascular system, and musculature." (Superfoods, David Wolfe). My daughter, Sam, loves cross country, but had a difficult time improving her running time in the past. Before she starts her practice, she makes delicious fruity smoothie and adds 1 or 2 scoops of maca into her drink. She noticed immediate difference in her running performance. She was able to improve her running time and endurance level. When I make granola, I add 1 or 2 scoops of maca as well.

Dried maca contains 59% carbohydrates, 8.5% fiber, and 10% protein (Superfoods, David Wolfe). Maca protein contains 20 amino acids and 7 essential amino acids. It is also rich source of calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur, sodium, iron, and vitamin B1, B2, C and E.

Raw, Living Food Is More Than Nuts and Seeds!

Raw, living food is not about eating tons of nuts and seeds. Actually, I prefer eating freshly grown green sprouts and vegetables. Ask yourself how much greens and sprouts you consume daily compared to processed foods. I am not talking about eating a bowl of iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrots or sliced cucumbers. Our western way of eating relies heavily on processed food and unfortunately, they are unhealthy.  They do not contain any live enzymes that our bodies require. Our bodies are living machines; therefore, we need live foods. People discount living food based on the notion of eating heavy dose of nuts and seeds. Yes, we do eat nuts and seeds, but I eat them differently and only 5 % to 10 % of my diet consist of eating them.
Instead of focusing on greens or nuts and seeds, one must find a personalized balance between each food type. When one finds the true balance by incorporating sprouted greens, vegetables, nuts and seeds in a proper methods, one finds the success to maintain body and mind.

Na's House Salad Dressing

I am not a big fan of eating store bought salad dressing. I have not found a salad dressing without some type of additives or preservatives. I used to not enjoy making homemade salad dressings because I rather wanted to use store bought for convenience. However, these days I take 5 to10 minutes to make a simple, but delicious dressing for everyone in my family.

I recommend everyone to buy high quality extra virgin olive oil that is contained in a glass bottle.

Na's House Salad Dressing
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup Bragg's apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup purified water
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 Tbs. oregano, dried
1 Tbs. basil, dried
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. black pepper
2 to 3 Tbs. lemon juice, fresh

Stir well.

Who Needs White Flour Tortilla Wrap?

refreshing and satisfying
What I notice about vegan or vegetarians that we tend to heavily rely on flour based carbohydrate products. When I really crave something warm and cooked, I tend to eat cooked brown rice. I still love eating rice because I grew up eating white rice 3 meals a day in South Korea. At times, I crave sandwiches or wraps as well. I love to make these veggies wraps using collard green, swiss chard, or nori. I thinly slice cucumber, onion, zucchini, avocado, carrot, pepper, and add mighty alfalfa, sunflower, buckwheat, or broccoli sprouts to prepare these yummy wraps. With homemade dipping sauce, they are filling and satisfying without clogging up your digestive system with the flour based wraps. Summer is coming and gather all of your favorite veggies, fruits, and sprouts to make these for parties or picnics.

Benefit Of Eating Raw/Living Food

When you cook food above 115 degrees, the food enzymes which are protein compounds that we need to perform nearly every bodily function, including digestion, is destroyed. The reserved enzymes in your body need to come to aid in the digestive process; therefore, causing your body to work harder to digest and absorb nutrients. When you eat raw or living food, you are helping your body to work less to digest and allowing the enzymes to do other important activities, like repairing and cleansing. Remember, the older we get, the less enzymes there are in our body.

Also, when you eat raw, you are consuming the full nutritional value the food has to offer, whereas cooked foods lose some of its nutritional value.

A raw food diet rejuvenates the body both physically and mentally. You feel and look younger and healthier. You also become happier and have a more positive outlook on life. Eating raw has so many benefits, ranging from clearing the digestive tract to helping people shed some unwanted pounds.

Trip To CHI With Coco

My dearest friend, Coco, went to CHI with me from May 11to May 15. We met so many people, shared laughs, tears, and learned so much about ourselves. The guests became instant friends with Coco. Coco's teaching reached people's heart and spirit. She taught relaxing yoga and power yoga. Also, her aromatherapy class was an instant hit. People could not get enough information from her. The best class was her Jin-Shin class. Her Jin-Shin knowledge was well recognized that the director of CHI asked her to speak at the Pot Luck party in front of over 40 people. She did awesome. Soft Drinks..... Are They Only Giving You The Fizz Pleasure?

Healing With Vitamins by Prevention Magazine states that "Canned soda contains excess phosphorus, a mineral that could lead to the leaching of calcium from your bones, a potential cause of osteoporosis."
Soda may provide you with instant gratification of quenching your "thirst" for sweet and fizz; however, the long-term and excess consumption can lead to loss of calcium.
"It appears that increased soft-drink consumption is a major factor that contributes to osteoporosis" (The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, Michael T. Murray, N. D.)
According to Russell Blaylock, M.D. in Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life, "One study of 460 young, very active girls found that those who drank colas were five times likely to suffer fractures than girls of equal activity who avoided soft drinks."
Soda drinks do not contain any valuable nutrition; they rob your nutrition. Next time, when you are craving for fizz pleasure, imagine your calcium leaching out of your body.

Non or Sweet Almond Milk In Minutes

I love to drink a cold glass of almond milk everyday with my granola or just by itself.

Equipment needed: blender, nutbag
Ingredients:
1/4 cup soaked overnight raw almonds
4 pc. soaked dates (sweet, for non sweet do not use dates)
vanilla extract (optional)
pinch of sea salt (optional)
6 to 7 cups purified water

Directions: Just blend for 30 sec. to 1min. Place a nutbag into a bowl and pour the almond milk.  Squeeze. Save the almond pulp and dehydrate and can be used in making crackers or cakes.
Refrigerate almond milk. Will last no more than 3 days.

My son, Will, loves almond milk for breakfast.
*I like my almond milk on the light side. I use 1/4 cup and soak them. After soaking you will have about 1/3 cup of almond. I use 4 pc. of dates to make the milk sweet for my son. The recipe measure is done as I intended.

Almond is pack with nutrition. One oz. of almonds has about 7.4 grams of alpha tocopherol vitamin E, and that meets 50% of RDA and 6 grams of protein per oz. It contains fiber, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, iron.

Superfoods #2 Hempseed

Hemp production history goes way back to 8000 BC according to the Columbia History of the World. History of use of hemp and cultivation found in North America, Europe, and the great civilizations of India, Sumeria, Mesopotamia, Persia, Egypt, and Central America.
Hemp plant is resistant to pests and illnesses that it does not require pesticides or herbicides.

Hempseeds have all of the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. Raw hempseeds contain 33 to 37 percent digestible protein, and have balanced omega-3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Also, rich in omega 9 as well.

Hemp has been used in producing body care products, clothing and fabrics, paper, rope, plastics, and for building materials.

I love to use hempseeds in my smoothie, crackers, or just sprinkle on the salad.

Danger In Your Grocery Car: #5 "Milk, Does It really Make Your Body Good?"

First, what is homogenized milk mean? It means that "milk is physically altered to force the fat molecules to stay in suspension so that they don't rise to the top of the container and make the milk look spoiled."  (Grocery Warning, Mike Adams)   The homogenized milk looks appealing to the consumers, but some doctors and researchers think that homogenized fats "pose a risk to the cardiovascular health of human beings" (Grocery Warning, Mike Adams)

According to Elson Haas, M.D., Staying Healthy With Nutrition, "Milks are also processed products. This natural white substance that comes from cows is heated, treated, and diluted to make even the "normal" homogenized, pasteurized milk;often vitamin A and irradiated vitamin D are then added to "fortify" this food, which some erroneously consider a drink. It loses some vitamin E, biotin, B12, and other vitamins with pasteurization. In my clinical experience, homogenized, pasteurized milk and dairy fats seem to drive cholesterol to high levels."

Also, milk is the second most common food allergy. Russell Blaylock, M.D., Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life, noted that "Several studies have demonstrated that a protein in cow's milk closely resembles the molecular structure of the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, called islet cell. Because the immune system confuses the two, it begins to attack the islet cells by mistake, leading to their destruction."

Furthermore, in 1994, FDA approved the use of rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) to increase the production of milk. Unfortunately, rBGH increases the amount of pus, bacteria, and antibiotic contamination in the milk. According the the NotMilk.com, "Dairy scientists are aware that when one quart of milk is tainted with 400 million or more pus cells, some 35 percent of the milking cows in the herd are infected with mastitis."

The facts about cow's milk are;
*cow's milk is nutritionally different from human milk.
*cow's milk is designed to grow a hundred-pounds newborn calf to several hundred pounds with 24 months period.
*cow's milk is lack in magnesium and vitamin D.
*no other animal species drink another specie's milk other than humans.

So, next time when you see the advertisement of the celebrities or famous people with the white mustache, you might want to rethink about the saying, "Milk Does Body Good!"

"Thy Food Shall Be Thy Medicine"

Through the health challenges I have faced over 7 years, not one medical professionals offer me nutritional advises. I was told, "I CAN eat whatever I WANT." When people are diagnosed with diabetes, heart dieseases, or other types of commonly known illnesses, they are told to change eating habits. When people are diagnosed with cancers, we are told that we can eat whatever we want. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE!
Whether you are healthy or diagnosed with health challenges, you need to shift the way of eating, what you eat, and why you eat. Our society's grocery stores became storage units for the substandard nutritionally valued processed foods.

Currently, I am reading Cancer: 50 Essential Things To Do by Greg Anderson forward by O. Carl Simonton, M.D.
The book talks about importance of incorporating:
whole foods
foods low fat, salt, and sugar
removing white foods (sugar, potatoes, rice, bread, pasta)
"Scientist call sugar an "obligate glucose metabolizer." Loosely translated that means a "feeder." (Cancer: 50 Essential Things To Do by Greg Anderson forward by O. Carl Simonton, M.D.)

If you are facing health challenges, eating nutritional balanced foods needs become one of the most important ways of your life. Also, if you don't have health challenges currently, don't wait until it happens to you.

As Hippocrate said, "Thy Food Shall Be Thy Medicine."

Superfoods #1 Lucuma Powder

This is a new series called, Superfoods.  Today, I would like to introduce to you, Lucuma powder. As we know, the processed sugar is a "toxin" or a "poison" as The New York Times reports. Sugar is sugar whether it is white, brown, or fructose corn syrup. We love our sweets. Sweet flavor is our comfort taste.  Sweet flavor brings happy feelings, satisfy cravings, and increase our waistline as well.  Sugar also feeds cancer cells.

According to the Epoch Times, a report has found that the United States is the fattest of 33 countries studied. Seventy percent of Americans are now overweight, a number that will increase to 75 percent by 2020 and 86 percent by 2030! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/05/02/is-sugar-toxic.aspx
I had to find different food source to satisfy my sweet cravings. I usually grab handful of raisins, eat sweet fruits like bananas, or my daughter's famous cacao slush or my carrot-raspberry slush. At times, I make granola with different sweet powders instead of processed sugar, agave or honey.
I found this "Gold of the Incas", Peruvian fruit, Lucuma. It comes in powder form. Lucuma is an excellent source of carbohydrates, fiber, beta-carotene, vitamin B3, niacin, and iron.  It has a rich maple flavor. I use it for making granola, ice cream, cold drinks or super puck.

Removing Toxic Waste Through Sauna

Thera Sauna

finger touch control panel
Since last year, I have been thinking about purchasing far infrared sauna. I researched for 2 to 3 months, talked with many different indoor sauna companies, and found the one I was very satisfied.
I wanted the sauna uses non-toxic wood and materials.
I wanted the saunas that are made in US.
I wanted the company that stands by their quality.

After talking with many companies, I found out that many of sauna parts are made in China or use woods that are not safe. Over a year later, I finally got one, and I love it.

Are You Being Fed GMO (genetically Modified Organism) Foods?

Dear Friends,
I know that many of you have never heard of GMO. What is GMO? GMO foods are produced in the laboratory by inserting genes of bacteria, viruses, insects, animals, or even humans into the DNA of food crops or animals.

If I tell you that......, how do you feel?
1. Americans have been eating GMO foods since 1996,
2. these multinational biotech companies inserted genes from species like bacteria and viruses which have never been in the human food supply,
3. the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) states, "Several
animal studies indicate seriou health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system.

Furthermore, United States does not require labeling. I guess you would know the reason for no labeling.

The next question is what are the GMO foods on the market?
1. soy (surprised)

2. corn (shocked)

3. canola

4. cotton

5. sugar beets

6. papaya from Hawaii

7. a little bit of zucchini and yellow crookneck squash

Now, you need to know that the many of these foods are used in many different forms and ways.

For example, the corn is used in feeding domastic animals like cows, chickens, and pigs. The corn is made into corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup (new name: corn sugar), and corn oil. If I tell that over 90% of United States' corn are GMO, would you believe it? The answer is YES!!!! So, what type of corn is your soda you are drinking everyday?

Now, you want to know why they are not labeled on the packages of food we buy. If you have a choice to pick between nonGMO and GMO product, what would you choose? According to Jeffrey Smith, the author of Seeds of Deception, states, "the FDA official in charge of creating this (no label required) policy was Michael Taylor, the former attorney for Monsanto, the largest biotech company, and later their vice president."

Please, do your own research and find more about GMO. Just last month, the biotech company tried to introduce GM salmon in our food supply. The salmons grow twice as bigger than the nonGM salmons in a very short time.

Do you feel that you spend your hard earn money to buy foods of your choice? Think again......

Please visit non-GMO shopping guide at http://www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/

Also, if you would like to learn in depth, I would recommend Seeds of Deception by Jeffrey Smith.

Banana Ice Cream

We all love ice cream. We love the creamy sweet ice cream. However, here is the reality! Did you know that U.S. milk contains rBGH (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone)? If you would like to find more about what rBGH milk can do to your body, please check out http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2001/08/25/milk-part-three.aspx or a book by Dr. Epstein called What's in Your Milk? This article will blow your mind away because it involves your children's future health.
So, how do we satisfy our desire for ice cream. Frozen banana!!!! Here is the recipe for you will take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to prepare.

Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Equipment needed: food processor, blender, or juicer
Ingredients:
Frozen bananas.

1. Defrost 10 minutes before making it.

2. Using one of the machines list above and blend until it becomes smooth.

3. Add 1/2 tsp. lemon juice while blending. (may omit if you don't have lemon juice in hand)

4. Serve it with any topping you desire.

This is my mother-in-law's favorite ice cream now. Also, you cannot beat the nutritional value of banana as well like B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and fiber.

You can enjoy ice cream without undesirable consequences of eating dairy products with rBGH!

The Green Leaves Between The Steak And The Baked Potato

We see a green stick with green leaves all the time between the steak and the baked potato. That green stick with green leaves is called PARSLEY. Parsley is many times overlooked and often thought as a decorative piece among the meat and the starch. Now, you are about to find out the mighty power of parsley.
Parsley is rich in chlorophyll that aids in detoxification especially in kidney and liver. Also, parsley provides Vitamin A,C, K, and B vitamins, beta carotene, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, potassium, folic acid, and sulfur.

Parsley can:
1. build blood.
2. aid in digestion.
3. boots energy.
4. combats fatigue.
5. dissolves cholesterol.
6. supports the adrenals.
7. strengthens teeth and bones.
8. prevents birth defects.
9. eliminates bloating.
10. reduces inflammation, and many more.
11. detoxifies kidney and liver.

To maximize the benefit of parsley, I like to use in salad, juice, and my energy green soup. Usually, I chop parsley very fine and mix with my salad. Also, I use parsley when I make salad dressing. Juicing parsley is another great way to get all the benefits, but parsley juice should not be drunk by itself and use only one 1 to 2 ounces. I like to add parsley juice in carrot or apple juice.

Next time, when you are eating steak and potato, don't ignore your green leafy friend, parsley!

Living Food Lifestyle Is More Than The Changes Of Your Dinner Plate

When I started a raw, living food journey, little did I know I found "myself" in me. This raw, living food journey transformed me not only physically, but spiritually and mentally as well (I am about 95% raw, living. During the winter time, I do eat hot vegetable soup and cooked brown rice). If you ask my husband, Jim, (we have been together for 22 years), I used to see things half empty. I was a worry wart and thought of what "if" all the time. Now, I see things half full with positive outlook and attitude. Don't get me wrong; I have moments of doubts or feeling down, but it is very rare.

I find myself appreciate my present life so much more with gratitude. Tangible materials did not matter when I was dealing with painful health challenges. I learned that nothing matters more than my own health. When my health was taken away from me, I was not able to enjoy what mattered to me. I felt betrayed by my own body. At times, I imagined that I traded my current body for a painfree new one like the movies. Wishful thinking!!!!

I used to take things for granteed. I never appreciated life force energy, food. I just ate. I never gave any thoughts on how food got on my plate. Now, I have a great deal of appreciation towards to earth, soil, nature, water, air...... Everyday of my life is a gift.

I am very proud of who I am today. My goal in life is when I ask myself, "any regrets?, I want my answer to be "I have done well." I know I am walking and living on that path.

Yummy Dates and Pecan

To satisfy your sweet craving in seconds, you need:
1 Medjool or any types of date
1 pc. raw pecan

Slit a date vertically and remove the pit and insert a piece of raw pecan. Eat!

Dates contain also Vitamin A1, B1, B2, B3, B5, C and more than 20 different amino acids, and also the selenium to lower the risk of cancer and heart diseases. It is rich in dietary fiber, potassium, iron. Dates are also rich in antioxidant flavonoids such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

Pecans are not true nuts, but a drupe. They are rich in vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acid like oleic acid, B-complex vitamin. They are also manganese, potasium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

Candida Overgrowth

Surprisingly, I eat vegan 90% raw, living food and 10% cooked food, I am struggling to control candida in my body. I check my candida in the morning by spitting my first saliva in a clear glass filled with water. If you have overgrowth of candida, you will notice cloudy strings or droppings coming down from the spit.

What is candida? Candida is an overgrowth of fungus. When candida growth is out of control in your body, you experience many symptoms such as bloating, constipation, gas, heartburn, brain fog, depression, chronic bad breath, leaky gut syndrome, recurrent vaginal or urinary infections, severe mood swings, memory loss, rectal itching and many more.

I recommend you read CANDIDA HEALTH THROUGH LIVING FOODS BY LALITA SALAS. I am on my way to take control over candida through limiting sweet fruits or vegetables.

When you have a harmony in your digestive system, you will feel so much better and refreshed.

Raw Oatmeal

Raw Oatmeal

For breakfast, I love raw oatmeal. I soak 1/2 to 1 cup of mixed rolled oats and steel cut oats in almond milk for 1 to 2 hours in the dehydrator. I love the chewy texture and taste of warm milk. I do not have this every morning because of Candida issue, but when I do I enjoy it with joy.

Chewy, comforting oatmeal
